Bandits, terrorists threaten to attack Lagos, FCT, Katsina, 3 others — NSCDC

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has placed all its state commands on alert, following intelligence reports that Boko Haram terrorists, as well as those of Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, have heightened plots to attack the nation’s capital, Abuja, and five other states, including Lagos. This came as military sources confirmed, yesterday, that a Lieutenant and five soldiers were still missing after last Sunday’s attack on troops of 7 Guards Battalion and 176 Battalion of Guards Brigade by terrorists in Abuja, which left an Army captain dead. Miners Association opposes FG ban

 The Nigerian Miners' Association, Niger State Chapter, has called for a review of the federal government's ban on mining activities and motorcycles.  The association's president, Alhaji Mohammed Mambo, said at a press conference in Minna that the ban would worsen the unemployment rate  among young and female gangs in the country's mining industry.  He said thousands of young Nigerians and women are benefiting from the mining sector and motorcycle  business as they lack alternatives to earn a living. According to him, banning mining and motorcycles would be counterproductive and would increase insecurity as more young people would likely be recruited into criminal gangs. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak of monkeypox  in more than 50 countries an "Emergency of International Concern". with men.
