Oyo students to represent Nigeria in Switzerland after winning competitions

The duo of Master Asala Oreoluwa of Government College, Ibadan and Miss Rosemary Anuoluwapo Ajiboye of Sacred Hearts College, Akinyemi Ibadan, have emerged winners of the 2022 National Schools Essay Writing and Nigeria Mathematics and Sciences Olympiads Competitions respectively. The National Essay Writing Competition, won by Master Oreoluwa was organized by Human Capital Development for the June 2022 edition of the competition at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. Eleven states were represented at the second round of the competition that led to the finals, where Anuoluwapo emerged the best among others and she is to represent Nigeria in the final international Physics Olympiads Competition in Switzerland between 7th-12th July 2022. Man sentenced to 235 years in prison for N525m fraud

 Agatha Okeke of the Uyo Federal Court found Scales Olatunji guilty and convicted. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) described him as "a notorious international fraudster". The convict received 235 years in prison for internet fraud and money laundering. Olatunji pleaded not guilty to 45 counts after the July 2019 indictment.One says: "That you, Scales Olatunji Ishola "M", Meraiyebu Charles "M" (fired), Gabriel Adeyemi Olugbenga "M" (fired), Ojomo Oluwatobi Ayodele "M" (fired) and Adekola Oluwatoyin "M" (general ), between January 2017 and October 2018 it converted N525.172.580". Theft of the funds that were part of the proceeds of illegal activities, namely: Fraud (compromise email compromise and identity theft) violated Section 18(a) of the United States Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act. 2011 (as amended  ) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act. MTN’s mobile money push into Nigeria was hacked for millions within days

MoMo Payment Service Bank, the new financial services subsidiary of telecoms company MTN Nigeria, suffered a breach in the last week of May just days after launch, reportedly losing 22 billion naira ($53 million.) Nigerian payment service banks operate with a mobile money license reserved for non-bank institutions. They offer deposits and withdrawals, and cross-border remittances. They can issue debit cards, but not credit cards and a fourth of their operations must be in rural areas where most financially-excluded Nigerians live. But according to news reports this week, MoMo PSB lost $53 million following 700,000 unauthorized transfers to about 8,000 accounts in 18 Nigerian commercial banks. In a statement (pdf), the company said it stopped the transfers after noticing them on May 25, leading to a temporary service suspension that was eased within 24 hours. Actress Funke Akindele nominated as candidate for Deputy governor of Lagos.

 The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has shortlisted five names as possible running mates for the party's gubernatorial nominee, Alhaji Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.  Among the shortlisted names are Nollywood actress Olufunke Akindele, popularly known as Jenifa; former candidate for governor, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour;  Yeye   Shobajo, former Lagos East Senate nominee, David Kolawole Vaughan, known as DAKOVA, another governor hopeful, and engineer Teslim Balogun. 9jagiver recalls that this happened after Tonto Dikeh was ousted by his party as lieutenant governor nominee earlier last week was selected for Rivers 2023. .

Russia not intimidated by US military build-up in Europe, Deputy Secretary of State says,

 Russia on Wednesday said  it will not be intimidated by US military build-up in Europe since tensions are rising due to Moscow's military intervention in Ukraine. Solutions are in the illusion that they can intimidate Russia, somehow contain it, they will not succeed," Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters.  “The security of the countries where additional quotas will appear will not be strengthened.The prospect of stabilization will be a long way off. The risks will increase,” he added. Many Worshippers Killed As Terrorists Attack Ondo Church

Many members of the congregation were shot and slaughtered. Suspected terrorists have attacked a church in Ondo State, with a yet-to-be-ascertained number of people killed while scores were injured. The incident was said to have occurred at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State. 9jagivers gathered that the church is behind Olowo of Owo palace. Many members of the congregation were shot and slaughtered.  One of the videos of the incident obtained by 9jagivers shows that children were also killed in the attack.  Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, on her mobile line were not successful.
